Review #274; Bourbon #84: Knob Creek Single Barrel Gallenstein Select #15 (15yr)

This is a barrel select from the Gallenstien family, purchased in the NKY area. This one clocks in at just over 15 years of age. Lets see how this old selection holds up!

ABV: 60%

Nose: Oak Spice, Black Pepper, Tobacco, Slight Peanut funk, Burnt Brown Sugar,

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Heat, Spicy, Black Pepper, Peanuts, Burnt Brown Sugar, tobacco leaf, Oak spice.

Finish: Medium length, Warm and dry. Strong Vanilla, Oak Spice, Slight peanuts, Decent if a touch oaky with some tobacco leaf popping in.

Rating: 6/10

While this may run a little hot, overall its pretty tasty. The flavors pair well with each other and its not as oaked despite the 15 year age on it. This is one I wouldn’t mind having another of for nights like this. Im sure it would shine through damn well in a cocktail too.
