Review #27; Rye #8: High West Yippee-Ki-Yay 2018

Background: This blend of sourced rye comes to us from High West who is known for their sourcing and blending. This is a blend of 3 straight ryes from MGP, Barton, and High West. These ryes are finished in Vermouth and Syrah wine barrels before being blended together and bottled.

ABV: 46%

Nose: Sweet, bright fruits, honeycomb, sweet syrup, grapes, sugar

Palate: Sweet, punchy. Sweet rich bright fruits bit of a hint of the wine, sugar cubes, vanilla, oak, and rye spice.

Finish: Medium length, mint, bright fruits again. Can tell the wine finish as it is strong in this bottle. Nice rye spice in the background

Sweet and interesting, this is a surprise. A dessert whiskey for sure but one that I came back to to keep sipping and exploring.
