Review #269; Rum #19: Stolen Overproof 6yr Hampden

Stolen Overproof Rum

This is a pot stilled Jamaican Rum, aged for 6 years. It is from Hampden and sourced by the “Stolen” brand which markets several other products they source under their line. This is a “limited edition” offering. Let’s see how it holds up.

ABV: 61.5%

Nose: Slight rotting fruity, frunk, guava, banana peel , slight caramel, oak spice, slight pineapple bark.

Palate: Thick, oily mouthfeel, Funky strong rotting fruits, Mango, Peach, Pineapple Bark, Banana Peel, Strong Spice,

Finish: Medium length, Funk, fruit, Guava, pineapple bar, oak spice, vanilla.

Rating: 6/10

I was pretty skeptical of this given the trendy labeling, and from what I know of the other stolen products not being very good but this stuff is tasty. Pretty good flavors and a good showing of a 6 year old Hampden product. Good funkiness, but not overpowered. It is balanced by the fruity flavors and the more savory spiciness from the oak spice. This is something I am gabbing a bottle or two of next time I see it on the shelf.
