Review #263; Rye #40: Big Bottom Delta Rye

This is a rye that I tried blind from a friend, all notes were done blind and then I was revealed the bottle. This is a blend of Indiana straight rye (2 year old MGP) and Canadian 3 year old rye.

ABV: 55.5%

Nose: Oak Spice, Black Pepper, Rye Spice, slight green apple, fresh cut hay,

Palate: Thinnish Mouthfeel, Green Apple, Rye Spice, Black Pepper,

Finish: Medium Length, Warm and Dry. Oak, Slight Tobacco Leaf, Rye Spice, Black Tea.

Rating: 5/10

Guess: Overall a decent rye offering, it has the rye spice tempered out by slight green apple. This just feels really muted compared to some other ryes I have had. I would guess this to be 4-6 years old, 45-50% abv, and a higher rye content mashbill 75%+

Post-Reveal” Not bad for a very young, craft sourced offering.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
