Review #260; Scotch #87: Ballechin 12yr 2005 Signatory Vintage (The Whisky Barrel Exclusive)

This is a single cask offering from Eradour, a Heavily Peated offering with no color added, no chill filtering, and bottled at cask strength.

ABV: 61.5%

Nose: Dark Chocolate, Citrus, Slight Black Tea, Raisins and Figs.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Smoked Meaty Peat, Raisins, Smoke, Black Tea, Pepper

Finish: Medium Length, Meaty Peat, Smoke, Black Tea, Pepper, Dark Chocolate

Rating: 8/10

This stuff is damn good, peat+wine is usually a winning combo, but this knocks it out of the park. The peat and fruit is accented by very savory black tea and peppery notes that make this a joy to drink. Man I wish I had a full bottle of this.
