Review #253; Rum #16: Raleigh Rum Company “White” Rum

This is a rum distilled in NC it has been made from molasses low wine brewed on site, with a round of oak aging. It is then distilled again to remove the color.  I had this blind then was revealed the bottle so keep that in mind.

ABV: 41%

Nose: Soft Floral Notes, light caramel, Guava, slight rotting fruits, honeydew, slight pine.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Floralness, Guava, Piney, rotting fruits, grapefruit,

Finish: Medium length, Toffee, floral, piney and rotting fruits. Fades into a warm funky/spicy tingle.

Rating: 5/10

Guess: This is pretty tasty, It’s well balanced between the slight funk the sweet, and some of the savory notes. It would stand well as a nice intro to some unaged or filtered out rums. I would guess this to be an unaged, between 45-48%% abv, and cane based. I just wish this had more punch as it’s been watered down.

Reveal: Raleigh Rum Company White Rum 41% abv

This is a rum distilled in NC it has been made from molasses low wine brewed on site, with a round of oak aging. It is then distilled again to remove the color. It’s not a bad product for the price, but their constant talk of smoothness on their site about all their rums makes me wish they would release this at distillation strength and or cask strength.
