Review #251; Rye #39: Whistlepig 10yr K&L “Swine Merchants” Barrel #2444

Whistlepig 10 year K&L “Swine Merchants” #2444

Whistlepig is a NDP who sources their whiskey from either MGP or Alberta distillers. This is one of their Single Barrel, cask strength releases. Full Disclosure, I am a fan of these of the ones I’ve tried and will be reviewing a smattering of these.

This is another K&L pick, which is confirmed to be 13 years old and MGP sourced by K&L. Lets dive in.

ABV: 57.25%

Nose: Rye Spice, Green Apple, Slight Vanilla Frosting, Red Berries, Oak, Pepper, Toffee.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Rye Spice, Slgith Vanilla, Leather, Toffee, pepper. Green Apple.

Finish: Long, Warm Rye Spice, Pepper, toffee, Green apple that fades into a warm spicy oak.

Rating: 8/10

I’m an uashamed rye fan, as those who peruse my reviews will know and this just hits what I want in a rye offering, good rye spice, some of those baking spice flavors, its well balanced with a long finish. Another great showing from the guys over at Whistlepig.
