This is a standard offering from Arran that has been aged in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Note this is the new standard 18, not the limited edition 18 which ws aged in only sherry casks. Let’s see what this “young” distillery has to offer us.
ABV: 46%
Nose: Honey, Vanilla, Cereals, slight hay, baked bread, butter
Palate: Medium, oily mouthfeel. Warm. Honey, baked butter bread, cereals, hay.
Finish: Medium length, vanilla, hay, cereals, slight oak.
Rating: 7/10
A good offering, the flavors are good and the 2 cask influences come across well, if a bit unbalanced at times. I’m interested to see how other finishes affect their spirit, as I like the flavors that come across in this . Perhaps a touch of proof could help, but for being 46% it’s pretty aromatic and tasty. Well done Arran.
