Review #249; Scotch #82: Wemyss Malts Velvet Figg

Wemyss Malts Velvet Figg

This is a blend from Wemyss Malts. This was made with a selection of Single Malts that were all aged in Olroso Sherry Casks. This releases was non chill filtered, with a run of 6,000 bottles. I’ve not heard of or had any of this whiskey so lets see how it holds up.

ABV: 46.0%

Nose: Figs, Strong Plums, Gingerbread, Allspice, Dark berries.

Palate: Medium, slightly wateryish mouthfeel, figs, plums, gingerbread, allspice, dark berries.

Finish: Short, Warm. Strong plum, fades into a nice baking spice.

Rating: 6/10

This punches pretty good for a blend. The flavors are nice and good at the 46%, the Olroso cask really shines through. For 50-60 bucks (internet search) this is a pretty great, well priced blend (not counting shipping on it). I want a couple bottles of this. I just wish the finish was a bit longer.
