Review #236; Scotch #77: Macphunn 19yr

Macphunn 19

This is a sourced single malt bottled by Loch Fyne Whiskies, and sourced from an undisclosed (Glenfarclas) speyside distillery. This is a single cask, cask strength, sherry matured offering at 19 years old. Lets see how it holds up!

ABV: 59.3%

Nose: Strong plums, ethanol, baking spices, allspice, citrus, figs.

Palate: Thick, oily mouthfeel, figs, raisins, plums, citrus, allspice, cinnamon.

Finish: Medium length, warm, Sulfur, Raisins, Plums, allspice. Fades into a warm citrus glow.

Rating: 6/10

Overall I enjoyed this, it’s a good sherried offering, but one I feel doesn’t reach perhaps quite as high as it should for the specs.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
