Review #229; Scotch #73: Gordon and Macphail Ardmore 15yr

G&M Ardmore 15

This is a 15 year old Ardmore offering from G&M. This claims to have sherry influence on the label however, I cannot find any information on it. So lets get down and see how this tastes.

ABV: 43%

Nose: Light subtle smoke, vanilla, light berries, oak, Sulphur hint.

Palate: Thin, oily mouthfeel. Light smoke, faint peat, vanilla, honey, Sulphur, light berries.

Finish: Short, light smoke, light berries, vanilla, oak.

Rating: 5/10

Overall, this is fine. The flavors are good, if a bit shallow and simple. I think if you knock this up to 46% we have a bit more to work with here, but even at 43% this tastes like a fine lightly peated, light sherry influenced scotch. Not on my rebuy list, but nice to pour, drink, and not think too much about.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
