Review #22; Bourbon #15: Woodford Reserve Double Oaked

Background: This is a bourbon from Woodford Reserve distillery that has been aged in New Charred oak before being finished in another set of new Charred Oak casks then bottled.

ABV: 45.2%

Nose: Very Sweet and Oaky. Not as much as you would expect. Vanilla and caramel bomb. Hints of Citrus, Honey, and a hint of grain and corn.

Palate: Strong Oak and Vanilla. Nice and oily. Wow is that sweet. Much less oak than one would expect again for the finish. Citrus and honey underneath. This reminds me a little of the Michter’s American but with less oak (makes sense seeing how Michters is sourced from BF).

Finish: Warm, oak and vanilla creaminess that is a medium length.

This is a dessert whiskey, very sweet but a nice treat. Would pair well with dark chocolate. I like the balance of sweet and oak.

Rating: 5/10
