Review #20; Scotch #2:Port Charlotte 12 Oilenach Furachail

Background: This is a bottling from Scotland distillery Bruichladdich. This was aged for 12 years, is heavily peated, and a travel exclusive. It was bottled at cask strength with no color added, and was non-chill filtered.

ABV: 58.7%

Nose: A nice peaty punch. Underneath bright light fruits, berry’s, melons, grapes, honeycomb. The peat balances well in the nose with the sweet fruits. Could spend all day exploring this.

Palate: A nice peaty over taste. Followed by all the bright sweet fruits above but more toned down then the nose. A nice smoke, peat, and fruit palate that is mixed well.

Finish: Along, warm, peat, fruit, and smoke. Darker fruits come out in the finish. This lingers with you for a long time and is interesting and quite enjoyable.

Conclusion: A very interesting and tasty dram. Would love to get a full bottle of this. Perfect balance of peat and fruit.

Rating: 8/10
