Review #191; Mezcal #5: Single Cask Nation Mezcal Fidencio

Single Cask Nation Mezcal Fidencio

This is an offering from Single Cask Nation, distilled October of 2016 by Mezcalero Enrique Jim enez. It then spent 10 months resting in a FF bourbon barrel from Wild Turkey.

ABV: 53.4%

Nose: Vanilla, slight honey, fruitiness, funk, red berries, black pepper spice, buttery biscuit

Palate: Medium and oily mouthfeel, Spicy, a hint of funkiness, medicinal agave, black pepper, honey.

Finish: Short, honey, spice, vanilla.

Rating: 7/10

The description sounds promising, a mezcal finished for a time in Wild Turkey barrels. This is a tasty and good product, though maybe not something I would reach for very often as it’s incredibly different, though delicious, from most other offerings I have tried. The one thing that makes this interesting is the play between the Wild Turkey funk it picked up from the barrel, and the natural funky agave kind of flavors from the spirit.
