Review #181; Bourbon #69: Jim Bean Decanter Leatherback Turtle (1980’s)

This is a cool decanter a buddy of mine got and opened for us last night that was very fun to try. If anyone has more information on it I would be appreciative!

ABV: 40%

Nose: Very fruity, strong for the proof. Cherry, Berries, Green Apple, Creamy Vanilla, Oak

Palate: Medium mouthfeel but the 40% shows. Still good flavors of Cherry, Vanilla, Oak, that green apple with some lingering must

Finish: Short, Cherry, Oak, that fades out quick

Rating: 6/10

This isn’t anything that I would suggest anyone rush out to hunt down but damn was it fun to try. This solid stands as that 6. Good flavors and depth but nothing mindblowing by any means. For my first “dusty” to have tried this was a fun one!

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
