Review #159; Scotch #55: Lagavulin Game of Thrones 9yr

Background: This is a 9 year old Lagavulin that has been aged in first fill ex-bourbon barrels. I had this blind so keep that in mind while reading my notes.

ABV: 46%

Nose: Peat, Lemon Pledge, Citrus, Vanilla Cream, Campfire Smoke, Rotting Vegetation

Palate: Medium Mouthfeel, dry stickiness. Heat, Campfire Smoke, Lemon Pledge, Citrus sweetness, light rasberries, a bit of Sulphur.

Finish: Medium length, ash, peat, pledge wipes, campfire smoke.

Rating: 7/10

Guess: This is good, Im going to guess Laphoraig, ex Bourbon Barrel, 12-15 years old, 52%-56%

Reveal: Lagavulin Game of Thrones

Way off on my guess on this one, but Im pleasantly surprised, as this is my favorite Laga I have had up to this point. If I could find it at the right price, I wouldn’t mind having a bottle.
