Review #157; Scotch #53: BenRiach Solstice 17yr

This is a heavily peated BenRiach, that is aged in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in ex-tawny port casks.

Let’s see how this stands out

ABV: 50%

Nose: Sweet Peat, Raisins, Vanilla, tart blueberries, stonefruit, Malty,

Palate: Medium Mouthfeel. Lights sweet peat, Rasins, Plums, Blueberries. Slight Sulphur hint.

Finish: Long, sweet peat and smoke, oak, vanilla hints. Light fruits. Malt

This is delicious. For being “heavily peated” it doesn’t really show up until the finish in a heavy way. It’s a nice sweet peat. The flavors blend together well with the peat and the fruits from the tawny are well balanced.
