Review #14; Bourbon #10: Russel’s Reserve Single Barrel

Background: This whiskey comes to us by way of Wild Turkey. This bourbon, named after Jimmy and Eddie Russel, are single barrel of Bourbon chosen by the company to be bottled and sold at higher proof with no chill filtering. This is an “off the shelf” single barrel.

ABV: 55%

Nose: Caramel, Butterscotch, Honey, Citrus, Oak.

Palate: Medium and slightly oily, Vanilla and oak. Hint of cinnamon. Very nice on the palate and is full of flavor and packs a strong punch below its 55%.

Finish. Long warm dry finish of Vanilla and oak.

Conclusion: This is good. A great value for a single Barrel that is packed full of flavor. A good upgrade to the regular WT line that is easily available in most stores. Will be keeping a bottle of this in my bar from now on.
