This is the R/Rum private pick from Foursquare. Several others and I drank through this bottle quickly, so Im glad I had just enough to capture my thoughts on this bottle before it was gone.
This was distilled in 2005, bottled in 2018. It has no additives, no sugar, and no coloring added (thank you to the pick team).
ABV: 63%
Nose: Warm vanilla extract, a hint of funk, Caramel, dark chocolate, fruits I can’t place but very sweet, ethanol and heat.
Palate: Strong vanilla extract, this thing is a vanilla bomb. Molasses, Funk, brown sugar, caramel, oak. Heat.
Finish: Nice medium length, Wet, heat, vanilla, brown sugar, tiny amount of funk. Some oak.
it is a nice drink
I drank through this bottle with some friends to see what they thought. They all loved it, most of them not into spirits in the way I am. It was quite popular with everyone even at a blistering 63%. Overall, I found this to be a tasty, very approachable bottle that I wish I had tried in a cocktail before it was gone. IT drinks well below its proof, and I like it more than the Foursquare 2004 I have had. Like most foursquare rums, it is a crowd pleaser and that is not a knock on it. It would be a good introduction to rum. I also wish I had bought more than one bottle!
