Review #127; Scotch #35: Balmenach 11yr SMWS

This is a mystery swap between two accountants, thus the title:

ASC 820: Fair Value Measurement: Fair values should be reported at the appropriate amounts using reasonable accounting estimates in compliance with GAAP.

Now onto the review!

This is a single barrel bottled by the Scotch Malt Whiskey Society. It was aged for 11 years in a First Fill Ex-Bourbon barrel before being bottled at cask strength with no color added and was non chill filtered. I had this blind so keep that in mind while reading my notes

Nose: Very sweet nose, honey, apricots, tart berries, cereals and grains, malty.

Palate: Heat, honey, dark chocolate, cereals, sulphury (in a good way). Oak, figs, and some caramel hint.

Finish: Long length, warm and dry. Oak, leather, figs, and tartness combine in a balanced way. After a while, the malt and tart fades away and you are left with the sweet honey and a creamy vanilla.

This has some good bold flavors with a finish that lingers for a while. It is pretty tasty and bold. Overall, it is a nice drink

Rating: 7/10

Guess: A sherry finished single malt, Ill guess PX, 52-55%, and 12-15 years old.

Reveal: Balmenach 11 yr SMWS 48.9% FF Ex Bourbon
