This is aged in sherry seasoned oak casks from Spain, like most Macallan offerings. This is offered at a higher abv than other releases; however, this is still lower than the 2017 release at 58.4%.
ABV: 51.2%
Nose: Fruitcake, berries, allspice, oak, and Sulphur. Nose feels a little muted, it makes you work for the notes.
Palate: Medium/thinish mouthfeel. Berries, Sulphur, vanilla cream, oak, tartness.
Finish: Short, baking spices, tartness, berries.
This is a step up from a standard release such as the 12, but this falls way below the 2017 release. The flavors are much more muted to me. While a fine release, like most Macallan products (to me) the price for admission is too high.
