Background: This flagship whiskey comes to us from the Wild Turkey distillery. This blend of bourbons is bottled at 101 proof.
Nose: Typical Bourbon Sweetness, Vanilla, Caramel, oak, hint of cherry with some spice to it
Palate: Nice medium feel on the mouth, the sweetness of bourbon is very upfront and it mixes well with the oak. Some vanilla hint on it too. This transitions to heavy oak and spice as you swallow.
Finish. This is a nice warm finish, starting out as the oak but coming back as a comfy leather with some light vanilla mixed in. A very pleasant aftertaste of the caramel is the final taste as it leaves.
Conclusion: This was an excellent bourbon. I had not belived anyone when they had sad that this was excellent value for $20 for a good baseline bourbon, I’ll admit I can be as snobby as the next guy. But this I like just as much as my BT. Profiles are slightly different and this one is less sweet and more spice to me but I will keep this affordable and on every shelf bottle in my bar from now on.
