Review #1421; Rum #720
This is a bottling of rum from Renaissance distillery which is located in Taiwan. This is a blend of 2 casks of rum , both distilled from local molasses and on a pot still after 12 days of fermentation. Cask #16248 is a 7 year first fill Oloroso sherry cask while cask 2 #20183 is a 4 year old Ex-bourbon WLW cask. All aged at origin and bottled at cask strength.

Rating: 6/10
While a very good release of rum, it does not rise to the other Renaissance bottlings ive had. The two casks they joined together feel disjointed. An exercise of lets smash two things together, when they don’t really complement each other. The heavy dark fruits from the Oloroso cask clash with the spice and vanilla from the Bourbon cask in a way that isn’t really working for me all the way. Still a quality rum, but less than the sum of its parts I think.
