Raising Glasses Thailand 9 Year (2014) “Kinnara” & Kinnaree” Single Casks

I was sent these samples by Raising Glasses.

Here we have something that is a bit of rarity for me now, but happens enough I am still excited about it. A new country to try rum from, in this case Thailand. The folks at Raising Glasses picked these two single casks from Thailand, a rarity in that they have no additives and were bottle at a decent proof. So let’s see how they are. Both these single casks were distilled from molasses on a column still, aged for 5 years in Thailand and 4 years in the United Kingdom. It was then selected by Raising Glasses and bottled at cask strength with no additives.

These are both very good rums. These have a nice kind of classic rum flavor in that vein of a flavorful column still rum. It hits some classic sweet notes with the cask bringing some savory notes to balance it. This isn’t incredibly complex but its tasty and nice to drink. Plus, I have to give props for some good unadulterated rum from Thailand, especially in the US.
