Review #1281; Rum #586
Here we have a bottle of rum from Raising Glasses, an independent bottler based out of Boston who releases rums in a 375 ml bottle format. This is a real interesting one. This is the 2nd release of a Grand Arome they have done. This is a rum distilled from molasses on a column still from the Le Galion distillery on Martinique. Their first batch they released unaged, this batch was aged for 10 months in an ex-Barbados rum cask before being bottled at a high strength with no additives. I have only tried one other aged Grand Arome from Le Galion, so we will have to see how this turned out.

You know, I will admit I came into this expecting to hate it. Ageing these high ester funky rums can be really tricky especially with a flavor profile as unique as this one. However, they were able to give it just enough ageing to make it interesting and not take away any of the really fun soupy savory notes that Le Galion has. The touch of sweetness and fruits with a hint of oak is really pleasant here.
