Raising Glasses Filumena – Canada Sherry Cask Rum

This sample was provided to me by a producer, distributor, or some other industry source free-of-charge. No compensation, outside of the sample, was received and there were no strings attached.

Review #1286; Rum #591

Here we have rum bottled by American independent bottler Raising Glasses from Calgary’s Romero Distillery. This rum was distilled from molasses in a pot/column still and then aged in a Woodford bourbon cask before ageing for 3+ years in a Jerez Oloroso sherry cask before being bottled at a high proof.

This is fine. Really, it is exciting to get come rum from Canada in the US. However, this veers into the overly sherried territory for me, its just all sherry, I even really like this kind of finish or second maturation on a rum product (my favorite Foursquare releases have secondary Oloroso). However, this base distillate could not stand up to the sherry and it has
