Review #1222; Rum #536
Here we have the newest bottling of rum from Raising Glasses, that American independent bottler who puts out 375ml bottlings of single cask rum. This rum comes from the island of Madeiran. This agricole rum was distilled from fresh pressed cane juice on a column still, put into a French oak cask, and aged for 3 years at origin before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.
Distillery: O Rezinho
Bottler: Raising Glasses
Region: Madeira
Still: Column
ABV: 62.5%
Cask: French Oak
Nose: Figs, Orange Peel, Lemon Slice, Nougat, Black Tea, touch of Lavender, Touch of Red Apple
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Vegetal, Lavender, Red Apple, Figs, Orange Slice, Lemon Peel, Earl Grey Tea
Finish: Medium finish, black pepper, Earl Grey tea, red apple, figs, orange slice, Lemon Peel, touch of sea salt
This is a great rum. I haven’t had many rums from Madeira, and much less aged agricole of this age that I enjoy but this just really hits the boxes of rounding out from the age and enough of the raw nature of cane juice rum to still be there.
Rating: 7/10
