Review #1486; Rum #785
Here we have something very new to me from Raising Glasses, that American independent bottler. This is a single cask of rum from Matugga, a Scottish rum distillery. This rum was distilled from molasses on a pot still with dunder and aged in an ex-bourbon cask before being bottled at cask strength with no additives for Raising Glasses.
5% of all profits from this bottle go to Jamaica’s O.D.P.E.M to support efforts to rebuild from Hurricane Melissa

An excellent rum here from Matugga. Its fruity, a bit of spice, a nice oak backbone. I wasn’t sure what to expect coming into this but this is one of, if not the best, rum I’ve had that was distilled in Scotland, Wales, or England. It’s a real standout and very enjoyable that harkens to a classic rum profile while still being its own thing. A real winner.
