Pekut and Carwick “Bulk Rum”

Review #1301; Rum #606

Pete and Carwick are a group of independent bottlers who seek to bottle well made spirits. This is a blend of pot and column still rum from molasses distilled at the DDL distillery in Guyana. It is a blend of aged and unaged rums from DDL and thus has no age statement. It was lowered to bottling proof in ex-single malt and rum casks.

Distillery: Demerara Distillers Limited

Bottler: Pekut and Carwick

Region: Guyana

Still: Pot & Column

ABV: 55.4%

Nose:  Vanilla, touch of bread, salted lemon

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Salted Lemon, touch of bread, Vanilla, Black Pepper, Lettuce, Dark Chocolate

Finish:   Medium length finish, Black Pepper, Vanilla, Bread, Salted Lemon, Touch of Lettuce, Dark Chocolate

Rating: 6/10

You know, I was pretty skeptical at first, but this is a pretty good offering from DDL and I say that not as a huge fan outside of Port Mourant. Salted Lemon, lettuce, bread, a bit of fruits here and there. This is just pleasant to drink.
