Review #1236; Mezcal #80
Here we have a bottle of mezcal bottle by Neta for Astor Wine and Spirits located in New York City. This batch of Mezcal was distilled by Gilberto Aquino Garcia in Logoche, Miahuatlán. He used 30 pinas of wild agave that had grown with partial capon at 2,000 ft elevation. The agaves were cooked for 2 weeks with local mesquite and tepehiaje wood and dry fermented with wild yeasts in Montezuma cypress sabino wood. This was double distilled to proof in direct fire copper pots and bottled at still strength.

This is an excellent offering of mezcal. It has great depth of flavors, its well balanced and nuanced. Its more approachable as well compared to other mezcals in my opinion as it is very fruit forward. It’s a touch below some other Mezcals Ive had , like the Afish Neta Tepex batch, but this is still quite the excellent and crushable mezcal.
