Review #1248; Rum #557
This single barrel of Jamaican rum is from the Long Pond Distillery. It was aged for 15 years in an ex-bourbon barrel and bottled for The Whisky Agency.
This is a re-review, as I tried over 2 years ago
Distillery: Long Pond
Bottler: Whisky Agency
Region: Jamaica
Still: Pot
ABV: 49.3%
Nose: Grilled Pineapple, Mango, Toasted Coconut, Lime, Allspice, Apple, Cement Glue
Palate: Medium Mouthfeel, Grilled Pineapple, Toasted Coconut, Allspice, Lime, Mango, Apple
Finish: Medium length finish, Allspice, Nutmeg, Lime, Black Pepper, Grilled Pineapple, Apple
I like this the same as when I last tried. The fruits feel more prominent to me now, and it has just a touch of that industrial cement glue note. Overall, this is a great example of a lower ester Jamaican rum that is well aged and well balanced.
