Review #1208; Rum #522
Here we have a bottling of rum produced for The Whisky Exchange. This small batch of rum was created by Havana Club’s maestro del ron Cubano Asbel Morales. This is a molasses based rum that was created from Cuban crown sugar cane and distilled on a column still. It then aged for 11 years in Cuba before being bottled at cask strength with no coloring or filtering.
Distillery: Havana Club
Bottler: Havana Club
Region: Cuba
Still: Column
ABV: 50%
Nose: Coconut, Pear,, Vanilla, Nutmeg, Pie Dough
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Nutmeg, Dark Chocolate, Orange Peel, Pie Dough, Cinnamon, Floral
Finish: Medium length finish, Nutmeg, Orange Peel, Pie Dough, Cinnamon, Floral, touch of Black Tea, Apple
This is a great rum. Its full of flavors that work well together. It also has good mouthfeel but yet still comes across and light and approachable. Something you want to keep reaching for to enjoy. Certainly a standout Cuban rum.
