Review #1041, Rum #369
Habitaton Velier Monymusk 7 Year 2015 MMW
This rum comes to us from the dependent bottler Habitation Velier. This molasses based rum was distilled on a pot still, aged for 7 years entirely in Jamaica in an ex-bourbon cask, then bottled strength with no additives. This rum is one of the higher ester marques at Monymusk, clocking in at an ester count of 250-300 gr/hLPA when unaged.
ABV:
Nose: Cherry, Graham Cracker, Raspberry, Vanilla, Slight iodine, Star Anise
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Cherry, Raspberry, Vanilla iodine, Graham cracker, star anise, pencil eraser
Finish: Medium length finish, Star Anise, Raspberry, Vanilla, iodine, Cinnamon, pencil eraser
Rating: 7/10
Another great tropically aged Jamaica rum from Monymusk and Habitation Velier. Good medicinal notes, really fruity, a bit of rubber eraser, and that heavy star anise note that lingers. We need more rums from Monymusk like this.
