Review #1110; Brandy #60
This sample was provided to me by a producer, distributor, or some other industry source free-of-charge. No compensation, outside of the sample, was received and there were no strings attached.
This Calvados was distilled on a small, mobile column still and spent most of its life in a 1000 liter barrel in a damp cellar before being moved into smaller barrels for 46 years of ageing in oak. This was bottled at cask strength with no additives or filtration.

This is quite the strange and interesting beast. The nose is quite powerful and pungent it fills the room. For spending 46 years in oak, the taste is really light and refreshing in a good way. One would expect a tannic bomb that is overly heavy, but this is really delightful. That age shows up on the finish though and is really long and delightful.
