El Dorado “The Last Casks” Tri-Canada & Port Mourant & Enmore 24yr 1998

Review #1099; Rum #426

This rum comes to us from Demerara distillers limited located in Guyana. This rum was distilled from molasses on the Coffey Column and Tri-Canada Redistillation still, put into ex-bourbon casks for 24 years in Guyana, and then bottled with no chill filtration.

The tri-Canada still is a modern column still that is not used much for rum distillation anymore and mainly serves to make grain neutral alcohol for the other spirit drinks that DDL produces.

This is a very good rum. It has those nice dark savory notes, a bit of fruit, and some sweetness that brings it all together. But it is still just very good. It doesn’t really rise above that and while not a bad thing, when you are out here charging 300 Euros for it, not really worth it.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
