Compagnie Des Indes TDL Trinidad 20 Year 2003

Review #1205; Rum #519

Here we a bottling of rum from independent bottlers Compagnie Des Indes. This is a molasses based rum from Trinidad Distillers limited that was aged for 20 years in ex-bourbon before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.

Distillery: Trinidad Distillers Limited

Bottler: Compagnie Des Indes

Region: Trinidad

Still: Column

Cask: Ex-Bourbon

ABV: 61.7%

Nose: Cherry Cough Syrup, Menthol, Raspberry, Crème Brulee, Dark Chocolate, Mango

Palate:   Thick oily mouthfeel, Cherry Cough Syrup, Star Anise, Crème Brulee, Dark Chocolate, Black Pepper, Lemon Juice, Mango

Finish: Long finish, Cherry Cough Syrup, Raspberry, Star Anise, Dark Chocolate, Black Pepper, Mango

Yeah this is what I like about rums from TDL. Punchy and powerful, this just hits you across the face with that medicinal cough syrup note. Some fruits and spices are sprinkled in to round it out but what I love about these rums are the extreme flavors. An excellent rum.

Rating: 8/10
