Cognac Frapin 27yr 1994 PM Spirits Select

Review #1082; Brandy #59

This sample was provided to me by a producer, distributor, or some other industry source free-of-charge. No compensation, outside of the sample, was received and there were no strings attached.

This is a single cask bottling of Cognac from Frapin. Frapin is a family owned estate that owns and manages their own vineyards, producers their own wine, and ages their spirit in their cellars. The family is in their 21st generation of grower producers.

This bottling was distilled from Ugni Blanc grapes, distilled on a Charentais Still over lees, aged for 27 years in Limousin Oak in a humid cellar. IT was then bottled at cask strength with no additives for PM spirits.

What an incredible bottling. This is easily one of the best bottles of Cognac, and a top spirit, I have had the opportunity of trying. The aroma fills the room with fruits, spices, savory oak, leather, and a touch of dark chocolate. The oak is well balanced, the liquid itself incredibly thick and oily. This commands your attention and makes you sit with it as you try to tease out all the notes it has.
