Cinco Sentidos Espadin-Tobaziche

This mezcal was bottled by 5 Sentidos, a brand who works with the producers in Mexico to bring their mezcal to market as it is made. This mezcal was produced by Mezcalero Pedro Hernandez in the town of Santa Catarina Minas in Oaxaca Mexico. The Espadin and Tobaziche magueys were harvest and cooked in a conical oven with guamuchil and Encino wood for five days. The agave was then hand mashed with oak vats before fermenting in a pine vat with well water and double distilled in clay pot stills.

Nose: Minerality, Brine, Earthy, Wood Grilled Asparagus, Touch of Rubber, Lemon Zest

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Minerality, Earthy, Wood Grilled Asparagus, Lemon Zest, Touch of Rubber

Finish: Medium length finish, Minerality, Earthy, Lemon Zest, Wood Char, Rubber, Coriander

Rating: 7/10

My first foray back into Mezcal in quite awhile, but man this is a great one. Well balanced and strong flavors.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
