Cadenhead’s “1842” Living Cask Caribbean Rum

Review #1225; Rum #539

Here we have a bottling of rum from Cadenhead’s from their living cask series. This was obtained from Cadenhead’s in Edinburgh and is a blend of several casks that are blended together with some kept in a quarter cask at the shop in Edinburgh. This particular bottle was picked up this year. I tasted this initially at a local Black Tot day tasting and had to have some to sit down with.

Distillery: Unknown

Bottler: Cadenhead’s

Region: Unknown

Still: Unknown

ABV: 53.1%

Nose: Burnt Brown Sugar, Black Pepper, Slight Vanilla, Papaya

Palate:  Medium oily mouthfeel, Burnt Brown Sugar, Papaya, Black Pepper, Slight Vanilla, Black Tea, Coffee, Green Apple

Finish:  Medium length finish, Burnt Brown Sugar, Black Pepper, Vanilla, Black Tea, touch of Green Apple

I don’t know for sure what blends make this up but a base of some kind of Guyanese rums wouldn’t surprise me. Its quite good though and flavorful, I can see why these would be fun to pickup as this is a delicious bottle of rum.
