Review #39; Bourbon #23: Bookers 2018-03: Kentucky Chew

Background: This is from Jim Beam. Bookers is an uncut, high proof expression with this batch coming in at a few months over 6 years old. I had this blind then was reveled the bottle so keep that in mind.

ABV: 63.35%

Nose: Strong ethanol, caramel, peanut, hitn of frosting with black pepper, oak, and strong peanut

Palate: Hot, strong peanut, pepper, oak, a little bit of vanilla and leather

Finish: Long warm finish of heavy oak, leather, pepper, and peanuts

Rating: 6/10

Guess: Hot, good, peanuts, this is strong but young so I would guess this is Bookers or a Knob Creek Single Barrel

Reveal: Bookers 2018-03 “Kentucky Chew

I was pretty on the money this one, label probably gave it away but blind reviews are my favorite as they teach you what you actually like, not what is on the label. I look forward to doing more mysteries in the future. Bookers is too expensive for what it is for me, but they’re are some great Knob Creek Single Barrels out there for half the price.
