Review #30; Rye #11: Midwinters Nights Dram Act 6 Scene 6

Background: This is a blend of ryes that have been finished in French Oak and Port casks before being bottled. This was the first “Act” where High West no longer had any 16 year Barton to blend. This is a blend of 6-7 year old MGP rye and High Wests own Rye distillate.

ABV: 49.3%

Nose: Plums, Rye Spice, Port, Gingerbread, Dark Fruits

Palate: Young rye spice that is strong, HInt of the plums and fruits comes through. Citrus, Cherries, and a hint of leather.

Finish: Young Rye, Plum, Cherries, and Citrus.

Doesn’t live up to the quality of the previous batches and this is not worth the price, but it’s still decent. The young rye really stands out to me and overpowers the other flavors.
