Privateer Letter of Marque Tonga Hut 75th Anniversary (4 Year)

This is a bottling of rum selected for The Tonga Hut to celebrate their 75th anniversary with collaboration from  the Florida Rum Society and the Rum Curious Club.  This rum was distilled and put into New American Oak casks for 4 years and 9 months before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.

Nose: Toasted Coconut, Vanilla, Black Pepper, Orange Peel, Dark Chocolate

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Toasted Coconut, Black Pepper, Vanilla Cream, Black Tea, Orange Peel, Toasted Brown Sugar, Dark Chocolate

Finish: Medium Length Finish, Orange Peel, Toasted Coconut, Vanilla Cream, Black Tea, Black Pepper, Toasted Brown Sugar, Dark Chocolate


Rating: 7/10

Overall a great release here from Velier. This is unique compared to my limited tasting of other Mount Gilboa rums. The brandy cask leans a bit heavy at times but I quite like the flavor it brings. The fruits really pop here.
