Bacardí 160th Anniversary Founders Blend

Review #1473; Rum #772

This rum comes from the Bacardi distillery located in Casa Bacardí in Puerto Rico. (I won’t get into the whole Bacardí debate here). This rum was created to celebrate the 160th anniversary of the the company. I can’t find much about how it was made, no real surprise there, but they did only produce 1,862 bottles to celebrate the year of their founding. Not sure on additives or anything but, as always, I go in assuming it has all the above.

Distillery: Bacardí

Bottler: Bacardí

Region: Perto Rico

Still: Column Still

ABV: 40%

Nose: Toasted Coconut Flakes, Vanilla, Orange Peel

Palate: Thin mouthfeel, Vanilla, Coconut Flakes

Finish: Short Finish, Vanilla, Black Pepper, Coconut, Orange

Rating: 4/10

Honestly, it meet my rather low expectations. Its not bad. The flavors are not unpleasant and they would be broadly appealing. But theres nothing of interest or heft here. It’s just another in a long line of lowest common denominator releases from Bacardi. I assume they could make some slightly better rum or at least release one thing that’s not an aggressive meh at best, so I will keep hoping that someday they can do so.
