Renaissance Tokaj 5 Year 2019 #19097

Review #1420; Rum #719

Here we have a bottle of rum from Taiwan distillery Renaissance. This rum was distilled from Taiwanese molasses that fermented for 12 days with dunder. It was then distilled on a Charentais Pot Still twice and put into a new American oak cask with Char IV for 4 years. It then finished for a time in a first till Tokaj cask  for around a year before being bottled after 5 years of tropical aging at cask strength.

A great showing from Renaissance. The fruits really pop here and there’s an underlying current of weird over-ripe fruits that form the backbone of this bottling, but the lemon and grape really bring a pop of brightness I haven’t gotten in other bottlings from them before. The spices round it to bring a bit of balance but this is an incredibly fruit medley.
