Nobilis Guyana Diamond 1997 26 Year “SWR”

Review #1357; Rum #660

This rum comes to us from Nobilis, a Danish independent bottler. This rum was distilled from molasses at Diamond distillery in June of 1997 on the Blair Column still, producing the SWR Marque, which uses the same process that was originally used at the now closed Skeldon distillery. It aged for 2 years in Guyana before ageing the rest of that time in Europe. Bottled at cask strength with no additives.

I would be the first to admit that I am not an expert on the rums made at DDL. In fact I tend to prefer PM as my favorite still and the expressions that are made using it. But, this bottle here is just the definition of rich and delicious. It’s not out there in extreme weird flavor like I tend to like, but its thick, oily, packed full of those dark chocolate espresso notes with just enough Vanilla poking through to bring it together. It’s just a decadent drinking experience.
