Review #1319; Rum #624
This rum comes from the Renaissance distillery located in southern Taiwan. This rum was distilled from molasses that was fermented for 13 days with French West Indies Yeast Strain using dunder. It then aged from May 16th 2019 till November 13th of 2024 when it was bottled at cask strength with no additives. It aged the whole time in Taiwan. This cask was selected by and imported by Raising Glasses

This rum is exceptional in how intense its flavor is, while still being balance in terms of heat. There are powerfully funky flavors with the cough syrup, bit of fermentedness and umami. The powerful fruits help balance it out as Raspberry and Blackberry compote bring a bit of sweetness. Some black tea and dark chocolate with some oak help to round it all out into a balance experience. I’ve not had much rum from here but this is significantly better than the others I have tried so far.
