Velier Foursquare Raconteur 17 Year 2006

Review #1269; Rum #574

This is a release done as a collaboration between Velier and Foursquare. This rum was distilled from molasses on pot and column stills. Part of the rum aged for 17 years in ex-bourbon in Barbados, while part of the rum aged for 5 years in ex-bourbon, and 12 years in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. This rum was then blended together and bottled with no additives at high proof.

This is one of the best aged Foursquares I have tried. Its thick and oily, the flavors are balanced well and pop. That oloroso cask brings a lot of baking spices and some leather rancio that brings this up another level flavor wise.
