Review #1034; Rum #363

Habitation Velier Monymusk EMB 8yr 2014 Cask 1

This rum was bottled by Habitation Velier a dependent bottler. This rum comes from the Clarendon distillery which is located in the Southeast part of Jamaica. This rum was distilled from molasses on the distilleries 2 pot stills, put into an ex-bourbon cask, and aged for 8 years in Jamaica. It was then bottled with no additives. This rum is the EMB mark, which came from the now closed Bog Estate and denotes an ester level between 125 and 280 grams per hectoliter of pure alcohol.

ABV: 60%

Nose: Star Anise, Raspberry, Vanilla, Allspice, passionfruit, Cherry Cough Syrup

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Star Anise, Raspberry Jam, Allspice, Salt, passionfruit, Cherry Cough Syrup. Iodine

Finish: Long finish, Star Anise, Raspberry, Allspice, Mango, earthy, Cinnamon, iodine

Rating: 8/10

Oh yeah this is mighty tasty. This leans into that medicinal slight industrial profile I enjoy that Clarendon seems to be able to producer. Big bold flavors, fruits, and spices come together to make a complex and enjoyable rum.
