Review #1009; Brandy #54: Clear Creek Pear Brandy Aficionados Batch

Clear Creek Pear Brandy, Aficionados batch

This pear brandy comes to us from Clear Creek which is a distillery located in Oregon. These folks have been making spirits since 1985. Using traditional European Brandy techniques, they produced this eau de vie from Bartlett pears grown in Oregon orchards. Distilled on a copper bot still and bottled with no additives, let us see how it fares.

ABV: 69%

Nose: Musty, and a bit of a cop out but, PEARS! Raspberry, Blueberry, kind of a fruit punch mixture of fruits all around, a bit of mint

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Earthy, big PEAR SKIN, Apple, Raspberry, mint, dill, blueberry

Finish: Long finish, PEARS!?, Apple Peel, Raspberry, Mint, Blueberry

Rating: 7/10

An overwhelming cacophony of pear that assaults you from all aspects. But, that pear is what makes this a great experience. A smattering of other fruits and faint mint make this a great release. One that I wish I had now grabbed a full bottle. Well done.
