Review #995; Rum #335: A1710 Bete a Feu Rhum

A1710 Bete a Feu Rhum Blanc

This rum comes from the single estate distillery, which was founded in 2006. This rum is not certified AOC Martinique Rhum. This is due to the fact that they distill their rum on a Charentais alembic style copper still. It is made from fresh pressed cane juice. It is also fermented for 3-5 days. This rum is single distilled and bottled with no additives after being diluted to 50.9% abv.

ABV: 50.9%

Nose: Raw Bell Peppers, Minerality, slight green apple, faint honeycomb, salinity

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Bell Pepper, Minerality, Orange, Slight Green Apple, Umami, Earthy

Finish: Medium length finish, Bell Pepper, Minerality, Orange Peel, Green Apple, Umami, Earthy

Rating: 7/10

This is a great rum. It brings a touch of those classic flavors I expect from a rum from Martinique, but it has its own spin too. The fruits are turned up a bit here as are those umami elements. The earthiness is really nice as well. All in all a great expression, and a distillery I need to try more bottles from soon.
